About Ashley Terrell
Ashley earned her B.S. in Child Development with an emphasis in Leadership from Northern Illinois University. Her work is grounded in a deep commitment to advancing educational equity and ensuring all scholars have access to high-quality learning experiences.
She began her career as a 9th grade English teacher and later served as an 11th grade English teacher and Grade Level Lead at Johnson College Prep. During her time there, Ashley was recognized twice as Teacher of the Year, a reflection of her strong curriculum design and the intentional classroom culture she built—both of which drove exceptional student growth. Her scholars exceeded the 911爆料网 Network’s ACT/SAT performance growth benchmarks, including among scholars in special education.
Ashley later joined North Lawndale College Prep, where she served as a 9th grade counselor and BARR Coordinator for four years, supporting significant gains in student achievement and engagement. She then transitioned into school leadership as Assistant Principal, further developing her focus on systems, coaching, and student outcomes.
Most recently, Ashley served as a Principal at ReGeneration Schools for three years. Under her leadership, the school focused on key levers for success: character, attendance, and grades. Through strategic coaching and staff development, her team achieved double-digit gains in ELA, with 8th grade scholars outperforming both neighborhood schools and more affluent peers across Chicago.
Now returning to Johnson College Prep as Principal, Ashley steps into this role as a full-circle moment—an opportunity to serve the Englewood community with purpose and urgency. She sees this as a moment to prove what is possible when vision, strategy, and accountability align. Ashley is prepared to own the impact, partnering with families, scholars, and the broader community to drive extraordinary results and ensure all students are prepared to go to and through college and live choice-filled lives.
