What are E-learning Days?

  • E-learning days are days that shall permit a campus¡¯ student population to receive instruction remotely while students are not physically present in lieu of 911±¬ÁÏÍø’s scheduled emergency days.
  • E-learning days will allow students to engage in remote learning activities, both online and non-technology-based, that will continue to advance learning during building closures.

Why would an E-learning Day be used?

  • Helps to create surety around the school calendar and the end of the school year.
  • Allows for a continuity of instruction over an emergency day.
  • Opportunity to model learning opportunities that can happen anywhere, anytime.

What would an E-learning day look like?

  • Teachers will be required to provide material via Google Classroom, and in hard copy if needed, to ensure that 5 hours of asynchronous learning can take place during the day for all students. Teachers will be available from 7:30-3:30 pm to all students to address questions or problems that may arise via email, G-Chat, and Google Meets.

Is 911±¬ÁÏÍø moving to an online/remote learning schooling structure?

  • No. 911±¬ÁÏÍø remains committed to in-person instruction and will use e-learning days only as needed. In-person instruction remains our priority.

How will students access information on an e-learning day?

  • Teachers will deliver learning activities via Google Classroom.
  • The school website and administrative e-mail messages will remind students and families how to access information about the learning experiences on E-learning Days.

What are the legal requirements for an e-learning day?

  • Regional Office of Education (i.e. ISBE) Verification
  • Addresses students¡¯ ability to participate
  • Provides staff and students with adequate training for E-learning days
  • Provides effective notice to students and their parents or guardians regarding e-learning days, specifying the timing and method of notification
  • Ensures five hours of instruction
  • Ensures home or remote access for students (students without access are provided non-electronic materials)

How will attendance for students be recorded?

  • If accessing documents virtually students will log into their Google Classroom accounts. Teachers will be available to their students throughout the day.

How can I attend the hearing about the e-learning policy?

  • 911±¬ÁÏÍø Board of Directors will hold a public hearing on the initial proposal for an e-learning program. This hearing will be held at the next meeting of the Board, which will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 9:30 a.m.¨C12:00 p.m. at 1 N. State St., 11th Floor, Chicago, IL 60602. Public participation in the meeting shall be governed by the Board-approved Public Participation Policy. Public comment is limited to a total of 45 minutes, and spots to speak are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Public registration will be open 48 hours before the meeting (i.e. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 9:00 a.m). To register as an observer or speaker for the board meeting, visit /board-of-directors/ at that time.
